Sponsor A Child
The Sponsor a Child (SAC) project uses a holistic approach to child development in three dimensions mind (education), body (healthcare and physical activities) and spirit (cultural activities and hope).
SAC program was started in 2016 to help families from underprivileged background provide education for their children. There are several individuals who are ready to sponsor the education of children and we work to facilitate that process. SAC program is a project under Being Volunteer Foundation. We engage volunteers to help with raising awareness about our program, help children with remedial training at the learning centers and also in helping with organizing cultural and sports activities for children. Last year (2016-17) we served more than 50 children. And this year (2017-18), we serving 250 children, through donations received from Corporate as well as individuals.
90% of children go to Govt. schools and majority of them lack basic reading and maths skills (4 operations > add / subtract / multiply & divide). If these skills are not acquired in the right age, children find it very difficult to cope up as they go to higher standards. Due to govt. policy of no child left behind, all children go up to 9th Grade and if they dont have the basic skills, they fail and are demotivated to an extent where they drop-out. 70-80% of children from our target group are first generation learners so support and encouragement from parents is very minimal. On other hand, Govt. teachers are also least motivated and often engaged in non-teaching activities, so children dont get the desired inputs from school.
The Sponsor a Child (SAC) project uses a holistic approach to child development in three dimensions – mind (education), body (healthcare and physical activities) and spirit (cultural activities and hope). Our primary goal is to develop a well rounded child that will grow up into an ethical, honest, sincere, and productive citizen of the world with care towards fellow beings.
